AFRO-MODERN DINING ROOM 

This is project was the designer's own dining room done as part of the One Room Challenge™, a bi-annual social media event, in which design influencers take the challenge, to transform a space over a six-week period. It is not a competition, but a celebration of creativity and support. The designers document their design process while sharing their sources and professional advice over six weekly social media updates.  Better Homes & Gardens Magazine sponsors the One Room Challenge™ as a media partner. 

I wanted a mid-century modern aesthetic, layered with color, pattern, and nods to our culture which echoes the likeness of my family who would be using this space everyday. I also wanted to mix in vintage and current day pieces for a space that felt refreshed yet welcoming and familiar. 

My goal was to use this opportunity to display some of the services offered by TPN, the feature wall and dining chairs are the results of those efforts and are examples of our specialty painting and custom furnishings services.

What we did:

-Selected and installed chandelier 

​

-Hand-painted custom design on feature wall 

-Selected and custom-framed all art work

-Refinished existing mirrored cabinet to suit current decor

​

-Sourced vintage dining chairs and reupholstered in custom selected fabric

​

-Selected all furniture and outfitted bench with taller legs suitable for the kids to dine
