Relaxing Bedroom Refresh

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

This project was done in the designer's own home as part of the One Room Challenge with media sponsor, Better Homes & Gardens.

The goal was to add visual interest by infusing a mix of color, texture, and pattern whilst still maintaining a zen-like atmosphere to ease the transition between sleeping and waking.

This room is infused with DIY projects including:

   - custom headboard slipcover and bedskirt

   - transforming a side table into a plant stand

   - adding detail to the tab top curtains panels

   - refinishing the dresser with paint and gold leaf.

 The Bungalow on Shine

Downtown - Orlando, Florida

CDI was commissioned to provide entire home decor and branding for a fully renovated property to be used for an Airbnb investment.

Client previously owned a hunter green sofa which she designated for the living room and wanted a design that featured shades of green throughout the property.  CDI designed three bedrooms, the Sun Room; the Moon Room; and the Earth Room, designated a dining space, and 2nd floor common area (using client's existing furniture).

The client's priority was to make a lasting impression with potential guests while keeping investment dollars to a minimum.

Retro-Modern Renter's Kitchen

Allison Hill - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

CDI was commissioned by Properties by N6 to design the kitchen of a rental unit. The real estate investment firm wanted a kitchen that would stand out in their portfolio.

The goal was to develop a fresh, fun, and bright kitchen, infused with color. N6 seeks to change the status quo in housing by developing affordable luxury rentals in neighborhoods throughout Harrisburg, PA.

Afro-Modern Dining Room

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

This project is my own dining room designed as a Guest Participant of the One Room Challenge™, with media partner, Better Homes & Gardens.  The challenge is a bi-annual social media event, in which designers and design enthusiasts  undertake  a full room transformation over a six-week period.

I wanted a mid-century modern aesthetic, layered with color, pattern, and nods to our culture which echoes the likeness of my family who would be using this space everyday. I also wanted to mix in vintage and current day pieces for a space that felt refreshed yet welcoming and familiar.

Hand-painting the feature wall and refinishing the vintage dining chairs are both DIY projects and my favorite elements of the room.

The Great Room at
Hurston Manor

Historic Shipoke - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

CDI was commissioned by the Young Professionals of Color - Greater Harrisburg to design the great room of their historic property, Hurston Manor, named for Zora Neale Hurston. The home is intended to serve as the organization's main hub. The client asked for a great room that was multi-functional; it needed to be used for meetings and transform to accommodate a variety of social gatherings and event options.

Our client requested an old-world Caribbean vibe filtered through a mid-century modern lense, and ultimately desired a space that felt like home and reflected the culture of their organization.
